The Glass City Rollers
…are metro Toledo’s flat track roller derby league.
The league has continued to improve its business model while also promoting and fostering the development of athletic ability, sportsmanship, and goodwill in its members, since it was originally formed in 2007. Glass City was accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in April 2010, and became a full member of the WFTDA in March 2012.
The GCR skaters and volunteers act as primary owners, managers, and operators of the organization, thereby reinforcing our mission statement – by the skater, for the skater; in Toledo, for Toledo.
Not only do the Glass City Rollers strive to be excellent athletes, we also aim to improve our communities through our charitable works. Along with our participation in events such as the Maumee River Dragon Boat Festival and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, each of our bouts benefit a different local charity. Our goal is to raise awareness of the charity in question as well as to provide them with donations to aid in their future endeavors. We have made contributions to local charities, such as Camp Courageous, Hannah’s Socks, Mercy St. Vincent Children’s Burn Center, Cherry St. Mission, Animal House Rescue, Independent Advocates, Food For Thought, 1Matters, the International Boxing Club, and Lucas County Canine Care and Control.
The Glass City Rollers are local athletes who are Toledo proud! This league believes in the city and its citizens. No matter the level of skating ability, each skater and staff member works together to ensure that every member becomes the best skater possible as well as a valuable asset in representing the city of Toledo.
